I KNOW THAT

My Dad likes to teach lessons. He is successful, has been successful, has failed and therefore he has knowledge to share. Sometimes he shares the same lesson as when I last saw him. Sometimes he shares a lesson that I have heard from another source. No matter what the lesson is I must be open to it. My biggest problem is a block to learning. I fight and often lose to the three most dangerous words in the human language when it comes to learning.

I KNOW THAT.

He talks and basically I have the thought of "I know that." I must bury this thought and keep an open mind. When "I KNOW THAT" I am cutting off all learning, all access to the gold nuggets he is sharing. There are great ideas that he has shared with me that I have not heard completely because I believe I already know what needs to be done. I perfect example is this blog. My Dad has shared with me that I must get into this medium, my friend and colleague Lisa has shared that we as a business must get into web based learning, I have lost valuable time because "I KNOW THAT". Meaning there was no basis for what they were talking about because I know what needs to be done and I instantly shut down some great points both were making.

I recommend to all that you put ENERGY into having an open mind. A great tip for success is to listen to people with the intent to understand and shelve the little voice that may be telling you that "I KNOW THAT".
